CUNY Works to Unlock Storage
Sustainable CUNY and it’s Smart DG Hub has partnered with technical advisors under a comprehensive NYSERDA-sponsored initiative to formalize the permitting process for energy storage, reduce soft costs of installing these large batteries and encourage wide-scale adoption for New York State.
Recently, utilizing a collaborative platform, CUNY worked with multiple partners, including the Fire Department of New York, the NYC Department of Buildings, DNV-GL and Meister’s Consultants to map the permitting process for solar+storage using lead batteries. Now CUNY is working with these stakeholders to formalize the process of permitting advanced lithium-ion batteries. Sustainable CUNY's DG Ombudsmen are offering technical assistance and trainings to municipalities across the State. dghub@cuny.edu
